I took a watercolor portrait class this spring though Roanoke County Parks and Recreation. The class was taught by Suzanne Ross, a very encouraging, enthusiastic, and talented watercolor artist.
Everyone who took the class completed at least one successful portrait. Suzanne arranged for our class’s portraits to be displayed this summer at Hollywood’s Restaurant and Bakery on US 11 near Hollins College. Please stop in for a meal and a look if you happen to be near Roanoke, Va.
My aim is to highlight the beauty of nature and the relationship between humanity, God, and His creation.
I am currently working in watercolor, gouache, and colored pencil on paper. I love the convenience and immediacy of these materials. Watercolor is usually spontaneous and unpredictable, colored pencil is controlled and detailed, and gouache can be either or both.
I also experiment with electronic art forms such as video and synthesizer music. Some of that work is shared here in addition to the drawings and paintings.
