I just finished painting this interpretation of Hokusai’s “A View of Aoigaoka Waterfall in Edo” using ink and acrylic wash on canvas. The dimensions are 36″ by 24″. There were a lot of steps involved in getting from a print in an art book to the final result, and I thought it would be fun to document some of the process.

This painting was a Christmas gift to my grandmother. Mawmaw was very proud of her family and poured a lot of love into each of us. My aim is to highlight the beauty of nature and the relationship between humanity, God, and His creation.
I am currently working in watercolor, gouache, and colored pencil on paper. I love the convenience and immediacy of these materials. Watercolor is usually spontaneous and unpredictable, colored pencil is controlled and detailed, and gouache can be either or both.
I also experiment with electronic art forms such as video and synthesizer music. Some of that work is shared here in addition to the drawings and paintings.
