Terry Hall Arts - Cypress at Gordon Creek

Gordon Creek feeds into the Chickahominy River just before the Chickahominy feeds into the James River.  This is in Virginia, along Route 5 between Richmond and Williamsburg.  This is a slow, tidal, swampy/marshy creek with cypress trees growing along the shore. This painting is a highly stylized depiction of one of these cypress trees, with other fantasy trees in the background.  It’s based on photos I took while puttering around in my kayak on Gordon Creek several years ago.  Colored pencil, 16″x12″
